One of our greatest joys is traveling. We get our travel inspiration from pretty much everywhere, and we’re very blessed to have the means to do as much traveling as we do.
Where we’ve been:
Our Honeymoon: We spent 14 days in three countries (England, France, Ireland) and four cities (London, Paris, Cork, and Dublin). We began to plan our return trip to Ireland while we were still there (but didn’t get back for 3 more years).
Washington DC: Long weekend that included the Mt. Vernon Wine Festival. This began our “Top Chef Restaurant” tour, visiting Mike Isabella’s Graffiato.
Colorado & California: We took our first trip to visit the V family in Boulder over a warm, beautiful March weekend and fell in love instantly. A visit to Colorado in March has since become tradition and we are excited for our fourth trip this year.
At the time, we were really into the short-lived FOX show “Alcatraz” and thought “we should go there.” So that’s what we did. We left Colorado that Monday and went to San Francisco for 3 nights. This included a visit to Alcatraz (which was pretty damn cool), and three amazing restaurants: The Slanted Door, Kokkari, and Tyler Florence’s Wayfare Tavern.
Colorado, Take 2: We returned to Colorado for a full week visiting Denver, Colorado Spring, Golden, and Boulder. We fell deeper in love.
Colorado: Our annual trip!
Portland & Seattle: Keeping in the “this TV show is making a city look cool” theme, we decided to visit Portland during the height of our obsession with Portlandia. The city did not disappoint. Aside from hitting a few Portlandia hotspots, we had a great time at McMenamin’s Kennedy School, the Portland Saturday Market, and the Heathman Hotel.
We took Amtrak up to Seattle for the rest of the week. I could live here. It’s a very laid back big city. Highlights included the Seattle Underground Tour, The EMP Museum, dinner at The Pink Door, and The Space Needle (which is a lot of fun at night).
Seattle & Vancouver: We loved Seattle so much we decided to go back! This time with M & T (our first trip with them!). It was their first time, so we showed them some of our favorite spots, but also spent a night in Woodinville, WA to explore some fantastic Washington Wine. Then off to Vancouver for Mars bars, pre-season Hockey, conquering one of my greatest fears, and poutine.
Colorado & California: This time we did Cali first for San Diego with the M family, 2 nights in Los Angeles, and then the remainder of the week in Denver. This is also the trip where I met Fred Armisen in the Denver Airport.
Ireland: At last! Our long-awaited trip back to Ireland!! M & T came with us and GOT ENGAGED ON DAY ONE!!!! We flew to Shannon and hit Doolin, Dingle, Killarney, Kilkenny, Cork, and Dublin. It truly was a trip of a lifetime.
Colorado! It’s already booked, and we cannot wait for our 5th trip to visit the V family.
